Dr. Howard Kelly was on a walking trip through Northern Pennsylvania one spring day when he stopped by a farm house for a drink of water. A little girl answered his knock at the door, and instead of water, she brought him a glass of fresh milk. He visited with her briefly, then went his way. Sometime after that, the little girl came to him as a patient who needed surgery. After the surgery, the bill was brought to her room and on it were the words, "Paid in full with one glass of milk."

Dear Lord,

I pray that you prosper me as much as paying for other people's hospital bills, especially those who are less fortunate.

And while I wait for that to happen, please help me be kind to anyone who comes my way. I may not have much, but if it's within my power to help or to give, then let it be done in Your Name.

I know that I can never out-give You. I have learned that with the measure I use, it will be measured back to me.

And so I won't hesitate to be a blessing to those I see fit - in wisdom. I go out of my way; I inconvenience myself, knowing that in my darkest moment, I will receive help, too.

I sow kindness, today - in any way, shape or form, and I will reap kindness, tomorrow. The harvest I gather will be far much greater than the little seeds I scatter.

I am kind, because You showed me kindness first.

"If anyone gives you even a cup of water because you belong to the Messiah, I tell you the truth, that person will surely be rewarded." (Mark 9:41 NLT)
